Project Aradhaga is associated with a group of unemployed women residing in an extremely underdeveloped area of New Delhi who are connected to an NGO called Aaradhya based in the village of Jahangirpuri. Being a part of this NGO, these women were given a very basic training of cloth stitching, embroidery etc. However, they failed to come up with anything productive that could be sold to earn a living. Their high ambition and enthusiasm to become independent became a source of encouragement for the team to work with them.
To begin with, the team, with the help of a professional trainer, trained them in making several basic kinds of knots using eco-friendly yarn. Yarn is a long continuous length of interlocked fibres, usually used in sewing, knitting, weaving etc. The women are excellent at their work and have made metal hair bands, bangles, table mats and decorative items using the same thread as an initial product. They were then taught to make more such products using yarn, like bags, boxes, table clothes etc. Now, the associated women are well trained and have suggested their desire to work more with new products. Keeping up to their spirit, Enactus Ramjas thus diversified its product line and introduced Tote bags.
Thus, Enactus Ramjas aims to make sure that the women do make the best of their hard work and create an identity for themselves which is their sole aim.
